...Job
Advertisements
Let’s start with
job advertisements. Firstly, you need to read
the advertisement carefully several times to ascertain
what the firm requires. Do you meet their criteria?
If there is a selection
criteria such as for jobs in the public sector,
you will be required to respond in a separate document.
If this is the case, read the instructions carefully
and your covering letter should be one or two
paragraphs only, stating the position you are
applying for, and ensuring you include any... |

...Labour
Hire Firms, Employment Agencies, Recruitment Consultancies
and Executive Search Firms

The second and subsequent
paragraphs should be about your skills and experience,
thinking about how these will fit in with the
organisation’s needs. You should be able
to get this information from your research. Give
examples of... |

...Networking
Another avenue that is
time consuming but often extremely effective,
is job searching through people you know. This
is can be an easy foot in the door, but also a
reference for you that the firm is a reputable
one and somewhere you would like to work.
The people you know can
be family, friends, acquaintances, professional
people you work with such as, your accountant,
solicitor, dentist, people you know through sporting
associations or your next door neighbour. By the
time you list... |
