will be looking at how your experience and expertise
matches the position, and will be asking questions
based on your resume or selection criteria response.
Consequently, it is a good
idea to thoroughly review the written information
you have submitted and likewise, ask yourself
how your background matches the job. Work your
experience in with the employer’s needs
and make notes on this to review just prior to
your interview. From these notes think about possible
questions you might be asked and how you will

Types
of Interviews
There are two different
types of interview situations. There is the private
sector interview, where the interview is based
on whether the candidate has the skills to do
the job, has the right attitude to carry out the
job, and will fit in with the culture and the
other people in the organisation.
On the other hand the public
sector interview is generally based only on whether
the candidate has the skills to do the job. This
interview is more structured and questions are
constructed from a selection criteria statement
that the applicant has already responded to and
sent to the government employer.

There is
one simple rule to remember during the interview,
that is, the interviewer is looking for qualities,
skills and experience that will benefit their
business. If you are well prepared, understand
your major accomplishments and what the employer
is seeking, you should be confident in letting
the interviewer know what you can do for them.
For both yourself and the
interviewer, the interview is about matching your
skills with their needs, and additionally for
you, communicating this information to the interviewer.

Ensure that
you stay on the track and answer the question,
taking into consideration there may be several
parts to each question. Answer each concisely.
On the contrary it’s
easy in an interview to give answers that are
too short and not relate all the information,
especially if you are nervous. A way around this
is to answer the question and then give an example
of a relative situation based on your experience.
